my favorite time of the whole is year is just right around the corner. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I remember when I spent Thanksgiving at home. Mom and I were in the kitchen preparing the dinner. My job was to tear the bread into small pieces for the stuffing. My other jobs included making the dough for the rolls, doing the pumpkin pie and the apple pie, and skinning the yams. As I got older and was able to drive,I ran to the store for last minute supplies too. I miss being able to be in the kitchen and help my mom at Thanksgiving. I wish I could spend Thanksgiving at home.

The day after Thanksgiving involved the whole family going to look for a Christmas tree. Once we found one we would bring it home and prepare it for Christmas. We each have our own jobs which we do year after year. Mine was to string them out on the floor and hand them to mom. Mom put them on the tree. Dad and my brother check to make sure each light works. After the lights are done, we move on to decorating the tree. Mom would take them out of the box and the rest of us would put them on the tree. This process takes up the whole afternoon.

On thing I miss about this whole season is all the family time. We spend a lot of time together as a family. What adds to the excitement is the secrets that me and just another family member had. What did you get mom and dad? Wanna hide out in my room and wrap them? Those were the fun times and still are to a certain extent. I am not home for the beginning, but we try to squeeze what I miss in while I am home for three weeks. However, three weeks is not the same as a month and half.

Coming soon.....why I love Christmas...(hint - its not why you think it is)
